New from Vortex – Spitfire HD Gen II 3X and 5X Prism Scopes

There are many types of optics on the market. While some companies focus on perfecting one, Vortex Optics has been running the gamut, while still striving for the same level of perfection. Here we have another example of just that. Applying some updates, Vortex Optics has just released the new Spitfire HD Gen II 3x & 5x prism scopes.

Spitfire HD Gen II

Leaner, meaner, and featuring a redesigned HD optical system for a significantly smaller, lighter tactical solution, the new Spitfire™ HD Gen II 3x and 5x models let you choose your ideal mounting height while cutting inches and ounces off the original platform. Now with night vision compatibility, it’s a shooter’s dream come true

This second generation of Spitfire optics boasts some promising new features. Inside, the Spitfire HD uses a new BDC-style AR-BDC4 reticle design. The reticle is etched and features bright red illumination powered by a single CR2032 battery. The reticle is built with the 5.56 cartridge in mind, with markings to allow shooters to reach out to 650 yards.

The center dot is 1 MOA, surrounded by an 18.85 MOA open circle, and BDC subtensions for 300, 400, 500, and 600 yards. The illumination comes with 12 brightness settings, two of which are for night vision compatibility.

On the outside, you’ll notice a new exposed turret design. The shockproof bodies of the units are slick, aiming to rid the shooter of any annoying snag points. These prism scopes are waterproof and fogproof thanks to the nitrogen purged and O-ring sealed design.
